I was a MLP fan back in the early 80s and highly skeptical of the reboot at first. Then iTunes offered the first episode for free so I said "What the hell" and downloaded it. And it was better than my wildest dreams! Sure, the show has some problems with racial stereotyping, but for the most part it's excellent. I love that we have characters like Rarity and Rainbow Dash, who are both female, and both incredibly cool in such entirely different ways.
I think I really fell in love with the show when Applejack and Rainbow Dash decided to compete for the title of Most Athletic Pony. Not most athletic female pony, but most athletic pony, period. (Was it "Fall Clean-up"?)
